Aaron Traywick, founder of Ascendance Biomedical, was a warrior for a better future. He took self-experimentation seriously; constantly trying to optimize his own health, and even putting his own safety on the line while trying to prove a treatment for herpes.

It has been just over a week since Aaron was found in a sensory deprivation flotation tank by the staff, who reported that he seemed “sluggish” while checking in. Aaron was not at an emotional high point in his life — many of his colleagues had parted ways and he was facing immense challenges coming from many angles. While it fits a narrative that ‘Big Pharma’ may have gone after him, I believe that with the current evidence, it was a confluence of factors in his death. As a mutual acquantaince put it: “We’ve all been watching Aaron drown these past few months”.

Aaron was a passionate visionary. He seemingly never tired as he brought people together to work on some of the most imposing challenges facing humanity. While many in the biohacking scene disagreed with his methods, none of them doubted his intentions. He sought nothing short of a revolution in biomedicine; the democratization of science and the opening of the flood gates for global healing.

That all being said… Aaron was a difficult figure, a complex human wrapped up in the cosmic struggle of good vs. evil. His focus on the bigger picture — of healing millions of people — seemed at times to cloud his judgment; used to justify questionable actions and obscuring the truth. Aaron’s life gave hope to countless people suffering from diseases they believe they will live with until their death. But it also brought the frustration and ire of his researchers and investors who were just as frequently burned as they were brought together.

Ascendance Biomedical has enabled infertile women to conceive, but its gene therapies have not yet been completed.

These researchers will carry on the torch to see his vision made manifest. You can join us on Telegram.
